Have you considered a Rainwise?
You can see mine in action at: Virginia Beach Backyard Weather http://www.vabeachweather.com Jim "newbie" wrote in message ... I'm considering to buy a wireless weather station. I don't know about the La Crosse unit but I have the Oregon Scientific
WMR968 system and am extremely disappointed that it provides absolutely no software or data tracking other than resetting every thing for maximum and minimum readings. The only way to record detailed readings is to purchase the expensive 3rd party "Weather View" program and/or the expensive data recorder unit. The fancy looking wireless receiver/display unit has no detailed data storage capabilities at all. This means that in addition to buying a very expensive weather detection system, you will have to spend hundreds of additional dollars to record and use the data you detect. The solar powered sensors seemto work well but my old cell phone has far greater information storage and data management abilities than this disgraceful piece of crap. "newbie" wrote in message ... I'd recommend a Davis Vantage Pro wireless station. Going on two years with
mine and am extremely pleased with its performance. Reliability has been 100% and it has withstood some pretty good weather "tests" here in Nebraska. Also, Davis' data logger and software package (at additional cost) allow you to create web pages of your data. You can view weather from my Gretna, Nebraska site at http://members.cox.net/gretnawx I'm sure you'll enjoy whichever station you decide to buy. "newbie" wrote in message ... $390 is close to what I paid for mine two years ago. If you look hard you
may find some on-line vendors that offer the WeatherLink software (used to generate web pages and view/graph archive data) as a package deal along with the station. If you do, go for it! The WeatherLink software (really the data logger is what you're paying for, the software can be downloaded for free from Davis' web page) normally runs $120 and up. There are many software options for generating web pages from Davis weather stations I just happen to like the WeatherLink product. No matter which you choose, you'll need the Davis proprietary data logger so you'll end up buying WeatherLink anyway. "Ozzie Nelson" wrote in message ... Can anybody give me some advice were to buy at reasonable price and wich one perform better? Have you tried to ask them a technical question via the email address provided on their web site )? This company doesn't respond to email inquiries. If they don't reply to questions BEFORE I buy, I can only imagine how responsive they will be once they get my money... |
