Default Q: Installation of La Crosse wind sensor?

Hi,
I recently got the La Crosse wireless weather station sold by The
Weather Channel:
http://store.weather.com/store/sell?...-LACWS2310-001

(By the way, this package sells for $180 at BJ's Wholesale, which
strikes me as a great deal.)

Anyway, I'm not sure on the best strategy for mounting the wind sensor.
I live in a townhouse and have limited options. Since the house is
built up, not out, the roof is very high and I don't have easy access to
it. The best I can do is get to the portion of the roof above the deck,
in the back.

My question though is about how to attach the sensor up there. I was
thinking of attaching the sensor to a short wood rod at one edge of the
roof, having the sensor poised about 12" to 18" above the roof line.
The problem is that the rod would be anchored to what I think is facia
board? Is this OK? I don't really know what's behind the facia board;
is there anything substantial there that a 4" screw can go into?

Please share your recommendations on how to best accomplish this.

thanks,
Jonathan
