Whats this MANDATORY Evacuation in FL?

The last hurricane (Charlie) proved how well these mandatory
evacuations work. Many people returned to their homes to find looters
taking their stuff. Well, it wont be any different this time.

Obviously you don't have a clue as to what you're talking about.

First of all, there was very little looting here. I'm not claiming
there was none, but it was minimal and most of the looters were caught.

There was a HEAVY police presence that very evening as police from
outside of Charlotte County (where I live) came in.

That said... Mandatory Evacuation is a misnomer. While the police can
"technically" arrest you for not evacuating, it's just not done. Anyone
fool enough to stay is allowed to stay.

I live in Port Charlotte about 2.5 miles from Charlotte Harbor and the
eye of the storm came right over my home. Along with the 145 MPH winds
that destroyed the building that my business was located in and did
severe damage to my home. I did NOT live in an area where we had
mandatory evacuation. And if we did, I probably WOULD have stayed
anyway. But after having just been through it, I can tell you that
NOTHING that I own is worth risking my life or my family's lives for...
NOTHING.

Frances has us all scared now, even with the latest reports telling us
that we'll likely just see heavy rains and comparitively light winds.
