Now we can spend the next spell (31 DEC. (03:12) to 6 JAN. (18:56)) watching as the other shoes drop. If there is no link between earthquakes and the weather, you can call me American. The Panamanian quake has since been marked down to: MAP 5.7 2005/12/30 18:26:44 7.535 -82.222 10.0 SOUTH OF PANAMA Which just goes to show what modern interpretation is worth. I have come to realise that harassing lost sheep is not productive of anything useful, so I shall let that go. Poor dears. Anyway I am still on the ball even though the present high runs will just be 5's. Or not, as the case may be. |

Head in the stars, sripes on my arse, my face red and paint my white arse the colour of a pesidential behind. Or not as the case may be. At the risk of seeming to qualify to vote for a monkey, can anyone point me to a site for the weather in California? And another one that explains how two 7+ mags occur at the same time of day: 7.1 2006/01/02 22:13 FIJI REGION 7.3 2006/01/02 06:10 EAST OF THE SOUTH SANDWICH ISLANDS You're doing "a heckuv a job" over here in headinsandville :~) I know I shouldn't laugh. It's counterproductive and all that. But I just love coincidences. Bye, bye (that's a drive bye-bye shooting. Sleep tight.) |

Be careful of these ostriches ostrichising you. |

That's true; I live a stone's throw from the White River. A big landslide on the north side of Rainier would have me leaving the house in a hurry, rather than hoping Mud Mountain Dam could contain the resulting lahar. But it's more likely that Orting, Sumner and Puyallup/Tacoma would be at greater risk. http://www.historylink.org/output.cfm?file_id=3584 http://www.nws.usace.army.mil/Public...sitename=MMD_I W&pagename=mainpage --Damon |

Sad as the Mining disaster was there is something inherent in the mining industy that you are at risk while at work. I am in sympathey with all those who died. But I have more sympathy for those innocents killed in their beds, secure in the belief a malevolent force was protecting them: "TIKRIT, Iraq, Jan. 3 -- A U.S. air strike that Americans said was directed at suspected bombers killed a family of 12 in their home north of Baghdad Monday night, Iraqi officials said Tuesday. A Washington Post special correspondent watched as rescuers removed the bodies of women and children still in their nightclothes." Even more sadly; this year we are in for more record breaking floods and such disasters as the mining one along with what might well prove to be the most active year on the books for earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. |

Liked the green bits: http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/total_foreca...ounty=c ac029 On Thursday (12 Jan 06) according to the BBC, Mozambique and along the Limpopo (Blantyre) had severe flooding continuing the rainy season's floods in that part of the world. http://www.awf.org/heartlands/limpopo/map.php Africa is geared more to strip mining than facilities for inhabitants: http://www.google.com/search?num=100...er&btnG=Search Try this: http://www.sabcnews.com/africa/south...119271,00.html Meanwhile, Ayr in Australia recieved 2" of rain while Townsville just down the coast, got 4". At this time of year it is "normally pretty dry in the South West in January." But the remnants of Hurricane Clare dropped over 10" (261 millimeters) in 36 hours on Lake Grace just down from Perth.(From the BBC's WeatherView.) http://www.weatherzone.com.au/charts....jsp?chart=sum Now would be a good time to warn people about going down mines and up into clouds. There is a treble occluded front slated for the NW Atlantic the first half of this week. |
