Default weather station help

Hello I am new to the world of weather stations. I purchased a ws-8025
from lacrosse a few months back and I am satisfied with it. What I am
looking to get is something a little different for my dad, who loves to
keep track of his weather. I have realized in order to get an accurate
station with a nice interface you need to spend a bit of money. I
however do not wish to spend more than $350, I want it to be able to
have rain, wind and temperature sensors.

Two products I have seen after a few hours of reading online, they are
the ws-2610 from lacrosse, wmr968 series from oregon scientific, and
the Honeywell TE923W. What do yall think of them, or could you
recommend something better?

I dont really like the touch screens of the lacrosse 2610, but I love
the feature that tells you what time the max/min temp actually occured.
I dont like the little ball bearing fan on the wind sensor, or the
tiny rain cup. The Anemometers with the cups to measure speed seem to
be more sensitive I would think.

Davis instruments seems to have a nice model the 7425cs, but that is a
crappy console interface.

Would I be better off buying each piece seperate. IE: a rain gauge
sensor from one company, and an anemometer from another.

Any response to my lengthy question would be gratefully appreciated.

Default weather station help

I've been using the Heathkit ID-4001 since it came out in the late 70's
and it's still is very accurate after all these years. I love the huge
LED display that can be seen across the room even in bright light.

Granted, it's a very old unit and replacement parts are almost
non-existant anymore, but you might want to do a search on e-bay. Put
the following in the search: heathkit weather

Some of these can be picked up fairly cheap. If nothing else, you can
see a picture of what they look like.
