Default Mount Washington has the most ferocious weather on Earth

Weather junkies who want to get beaten up by the wind can pay a $45
membership fee, plus $459 for lectures, hikes and a bunk for one night
at the observatory. Members can also visit free in return for a week's
worth of cooking, cleaning or maintenance work. But there is a waiting
list.

Weather prediction is a risky job at best these days. Even with
supercomputers and instant data delivery from around the globe it can
go horribly wrong.

But the data that was referenced in the link contains information that
is in the Guinness Book of Records among othe r places. It is a
statistic not a prediction:

"But Mount Washington sticks up at a point where storms from the
north, south and west collide. As a result, it has some of the most
ferocious weather on Earth, with snow and ice even in the summer."

Why would anyone predict that? It's something you can read on any
guidebook to the area.

Speaking of which, one can visit the mountain to get the experience
the OP spammed about for the cost of travelling there. There is no
need to pay for a guide, though of course an experiencd guide will be
a safeguard as well as an asset in other ways.

Because Joseph Bartlo is a net kook who likes to brag of his weather
forecasting abilities to make people think he is a god or something. Yet
for some reason, he fails to predict the conditions on this mountain.

OK let me predict it for you junior.

Mount Washington has some of the the most ferocious weather on Earth
and Mount Washington is going to have the most ferocious weather on
Earth.

After that, the most ferocious weather on earth is going to be on Mt
Washington.

On the following days Mount Washington will have some of the the most
ferocious weather on Earth, with the outlook later, for the most
ferocious weather on Earth likely to hit Mount Washington.

I dare say if Mr Bartlo was as fecund in his proclivities as you are
in yours, he might have had more time to fit the above in his purview.
I dare say it never occurred to him that his time was worth wasting on
the most ludicrous of fools such as yourself though.

HTH.

snip bloviations

You just don't get it, do you. The posters and myself don't care about
the weather on mt washington, or whereever it is that you are rambling
about. All we care about is that that moron Bartlo - who claims to be
some mega weather forecaster - failed to predict it and we are calling
him on it. Get that through your overblown ego and thick skull, will
you, Bartlo.

The mountain is affected directly by the jet stream in some cases, a record
wind was recorded there of around 240 mph (record for non-tropical/tornadic
event.) It is not at all unusual to see winds approach and exceed 100 mph
on a weekly basis.

I believe that the people you are trying to educate are chronically
inclined to pathologic crani-oral dyspnea. It must be a terrible thing
to have both broken ear drums and empty heads.

No wonder they take such exception to draughts. (Fascinating noise
makers though

I remember a few weeks back, reading about a USAn predictor who wrote
confessing that he had predicted a negative North Atlantic anomaly and
that it had failed to mature.

There was a trace of it for a short while on European sea surface
pressure maps. Somewhere between North Africa and Germany IIRC.

I don't remember if it was this Josheph Bartlo but it could have been
for aught I know. My point is that concomitant with negative
oscillations in the N Atlantic, one usually sees an upsurge in
volcanic activity.

I believe that such activity took place on that occasion:

On February 27, 2007, the Stromboli Volcano underwent a strong
eruption. According to the BBC, two new craters opened on the
volcano's summit, producing twin lava flows. One of those lava streams
reached the sea the same day, sending up plumes of steam as the
scalding lava touched the cool water. Although authorities did not
anticipate an evacuation of the volcanic island, they restricted
access to high-risk areas. According to Volcano Discovery, seismic
activity continued several days later, including rockfalls.

Weather lawyer?

What are you going to sue the meteorologist if it rains
on you tomorrow?

You do realize the meteorologist predicts the weather, doeesn't
control it?

Were you anywhere near the mountain? If so, had you been eating any spicy
foods?
