I would like to buy an AM/FM broadcast and weather band radio for US
frequencies that will work in a mobile home. Many radios do not work
because of the mobile home's metal body, even when placed reasonably near
a window. Any suggestions? Someone have one that works? If it has
external antenna availability or a whip antenna that helps a lot.

I bought the weather radio advertised in the following link in a
grocery store for less than $20. It has a external antenna jack.

I hope you got some sort of an anti-spike to go with it.

You can get multi socket extension leads with the necessary chemical
instant fuse very cheaply these days. Not much more than the price of
an ordinary multi-socket.
