It would appear the tides of the area are endangering the entire atol.
The highest astronomical tides of the year are reaching the near
extreme of 4 metres. OK nothing on the scale we are used to in Western
Europe and North America.

But the island arc is only about 4.5 metres out of the sea.

Beats me why they turned half of it into an aircraft landing strip. I
wonder if the problem is more likely due to progress rather than
glowballs.
