The hurricane that came to stay, Katrina and the functionally simian
president is a story that just runs and runs. Here is the latest episode: The federal government, through it's subsidiary the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), bought thousands of trailers to house those displaced by Hurricane Katrina. The trailers didn't arrive until months and even years after those displaced people had found other housing, so they went into "temporary" storage, thousands upon thousands of trailers cluttering-up farm fields in Louisiana and Arkansas. In order to recoup some of the loss, FEMA started selling the trailers, the key to the transaction not being so much the money changing hands as it was the ability to haul the damned things away. Then FEMA discovered that the trailers were giving off toxic gas, making them uninhabitable, creating a whole new class of refugee. Now, the federal government is buying the trailers back from the people who bought them from FEMA, and will, presumably, collect the trailers and haul them back to "temporary" storage. The agency said it would e-mail buyers to notify them of the refund option. Buyers have 60 days to request a refund, FEMA said. http://functionalambivalent.typepad.com/blog/ Picture this: http://www.cbsnews.com/images/2006/1...74f89f7365.jpg Moron he http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22718580/ |
