Default Snow!!!

Well, we've had our third real snowfall of the season, and I guess this is
the biggest one so far. Here in East Frankfort, we got between 3" and 3.5"
of the fluffy stuff.

There was one Louisville forecaster who, on Thursday, said all the other
forecasters were wrong, and the snow would not get here until Friday
evening. By Friday morning, most of the others had fallen in-line with
him, but a few of the Lexington forecasters were still calling for the
"more than flurries" snow to start around noon.

The original Louisville guy got it right. Snow held off here until
sometime after 10 PM. Not sure exactly when it first started in Louisville,
but it was evening.

Here are some observations reported to the NWS, followed by an NWS
statement for Eastern KY:

01/30/2010 1140 am
Frankfort, Franklin County.
Snow m4.0 inch, reported by co-op observer.

01/30/2010 0644 am
Albany, Clinton County.
Snow m5.0 inch, reported by trained spotter.

01/30/2010 0650 am
Pikeville, Pike County.
Heavy snow e7.0 inch, reported by dept of highways.
Highway dept reported 6 to 8 inches across Pike County.

01/30/2010 1109 am
Elkhorn City, Pike County.
Heavy snow m7.5 inch, reported by Emergency Mngr.
7.5 inches of storm total snowfall was reported by the
Elkhorn City Fire Department and relayed by the County EM.
