I receive via an email listserv notifications when the
Hurricane watch net is going to activate because a storm is
projected to be near landfall.

fOr those who don't know, the Hurricane watch net is
affiliated with the National weather service hurricane
prediction center in Miami, FLorida. A ham radio station at the nhc whose call
sign is wx4nhc collects realtime "ground
truth" data from stations in the projected path of the
storm. THe net operates primarily on 14325 khz, but uses
other hf frequencies, as well as internet to vhf and uhf
links.

If the echo mods would like I can post notofications here
when received regarding hwn activations.
