Default Sluggish frontal boundary means a dull weekend...

I thought you might find the following I posted on the Yahoo Weather
Group interesting and useful. ..
--------------------------------------------------------------
A kinda' stationary front (or as the pro's at NWS call it
quasi-stationary front) has settled a bit to my south. Per 9 AM
Southern New England observations and using winds from north
hemisphere (N. NE etc) vs those from south hemisphere (S, SW etc) I
place the boundary heading from ENE to WSW on a straight line from
just north of Provincetown and Providence and passing just south of
Danbury CT. Simply put, a front is a boundary of two airmasses with
significantly different qualities. Often its temp and moisture but
sometimes one of the other dominates. In this instance, dewpoint; in
other words, water vapor content is the big deal....

Below is a listing of dewpoints throughout S. NE at 9AM. I note that
all locations north of the boundary have dewpoints lower than those
south of the boundary (except for Chatham at 50F which may indicate a
faulty moisture sensor there). The average dewpoint north in the cool
sector is 48F while south of the boundary its 59F. Quantitatively,
this says that "on the average" air parcels south of the front
"contain" about 50% more water vapor than parcels north of the
boundary.

The models say that this front will not move much over the next 48 +/-
hours. This translates to dull & now and then wet conditions around
these parts.

North of front:
Worcester 43
Lawrence 46
Blue Hill 46
Norwood 46
Fitchburg 46
Orange 46
Bedford 47
Boston 48
Beverly 48
Chatham 50
North Adams 50
Pittsfield 52

Average 48

South of front:

Nantucket 55
Block Island 55
Smithfield 55
Hartford 56
Plymouth 57
Hyannis 58
Newport 58
