I was browsing through the family albums today, and ran across an example
that brought home to me how well-warned we are nowadays about severe weather. My mother had written a reminiscence of the 1938 Hurricane: "We were at the Sherman's Bridge Road house when the 1938 hurricane struck New England. We had no idea what was happening, but thought it was only a very strong windstorm. It was quite astonishing to see some of the huge old trees along the stone walls slowly tilt and fall, ripping out their roots in huge ragged disks all thick with soil. We found out later what had happened." -- This article was auto-posted by the ne.weather.moderated Weatherbot program.
