Default A simple shroud for a thermometer?

I've got one of those wireless remote thermometers. The remote sensor is
just a little "bump" on the end of a flexible wire -- pencil eraser
sized.

The only reasonable place to mount the sensor is on the eastern wall of
the house where it gets full-blast direct sun for a couple of hours
every morning. Naturally, I get some pretty unrealistic readings during
that time.

I can build some kind of shroud to keep the direct solar radiation off
it, but it occurs to me that if it's done wrong, it could even make
things worse, so I thought I'd ask for some professional advice.

What would a small, simple shroud look like, that would allow the sensor
to respond to ambient air temperature without being affected by direct
radiative heating?

How far away from the wall of the house should it be located in order
for the heat radiating from the wall to affect it?

Any other suggestions?

thanks

Isaac
