Default Forcast for Senator Rick Santorum: VERY GLOOMY

Apparently, Senator Santorum (R-PA) is back in the news and is still
eager to shut down access to the Nation Weather Service from the
public.

According to the Electronic Frontier Fondation, The National Weather
Services Duties Act (S.786)
(http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c109:s786:) would ban NWS from
"competing" with private entities by making it unlawful for the agency
to publish user-friendly weather data and barring NWS experts from
speaking one-on-one to news agencies.

According to the news article above, the senator has been taking $2000
from AccuWeather, based in State College, PA. Aside from Senator
Delay, Santorum is one of the few senators under fire for taking money
from companies. Santorum is also facing re-election in 2006. Guess
who will be contributing money to Santorums re-election campaign:
AccuWeather.

According to this new article, Sanotorum says he is working for the
intereset of 14 private weather companies with 1000 jobs on the line.
Is protecting the interest of 1000 jobs in one state greater than the
jobs of the other 250 Million Americans who live in the country?

These corporations say "the government has too much to do". They say
"the government has more important things to do than predict weather".
What they are really trying to do is privatize agencies critical to the
economy, commerce, defense, and the government.

If this is what the Senator calls "clarification of the duties of the
National Weather Service", imagine the consequences if other
"clarifications" reorganized important government agencies.

Support the National Weather Serivice and the Electronic Frontier
Foundation by contacting your representatives.

Tell Senator Santorium and AccuWeather the government is not for sale!
