Default NAM performance

Has anyone noticed a change in local model performance since the switch
to WRF-NMM in models that use NAM for background (I.C, B.C.) fields.
Specifically we have noticed more noise in the moisture fields (w,
humidity, etc.) This has implications in in local model convective
performance and precipitation.
Thanks
