You think that the closest ocean necessarily is the source of the usual rain. How about if I told you that the INDIAN OCEAN is the primary source of Western interior US summer rains, and the reason there was a drought this summer was because the rainclouds from the Indian Ocean were pushed north into the Arctic by the severe storm season in Asian Pacific? http://www.onelocalnews.com/meadowfr...id=15042&sourc e=2 Expert: U.S. West becoming warmer faster 2006/10 DURANGO, Colo. - The American West is becoming warmer faster on average than the rest of the world, a climate researcher says. The West is 2 to 3 degrees warmer than its average annual temperature, calculated using more than 100 years of records, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Many studies peg the rise in the earth‘s average temperature since 1880 at 1 degree, making it the warmest it has been in the last 400 years. "Things are cooking in the West, and they‘ll continue to cook even more," Overpeck said. The Indian Ocean drives many of the weather patterns that make their way to the American West, University of Colorado climate scientist Klaus Wolter said. http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_4484760 West is warming epicenter Experts say region outpaces rest of globe in temperature rise By Electa Draper Denver Post Staff Writer Article Last Updated:10/12/2006 10:09:51 PM MDT Durango - The globe is warming, but the American West is really cooking - hotter and faster on average than the rest of the U.S. and the world, a leading climate researcher said at a conference here Thursday. "The West is warming dramatically," said Jonathan Overpeck, director of the Institute for the Study of Planet Earth at the University of Arizona. "Things are just going to get hotter. You can bet the farm on it." It's not just the farm and shorter irrigation seasons at stake. It probably means shorter skiing and rafting seasons but longer droughts, worse floods, sweatier summers and more dead trees. The West is already 2 to 3 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than its average annual temperature, calculated using more than 100 years of records, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Most scientific studies peg the rise in the Earth's average temperature since 1880 at 1 degree Fahrenheit, making it the warmest it has been in the past 400 years. ... .... "But temperature alone can drive a major drying-out of the West," Overpeck said. With the earlier and faster snowmelt, stream flows are lower in late spring and summer. Evaporation of reservoirs is greater. Vegetation suffers, Overpeck said, as witnessed on millions of Western acres where drought-stricken, bug-infested pińons and other trees have died since 2000. Climate systems are complex and incompletely understood, but NOAA meteorologist Marty Hoerling has found that an especially warm Indian Ocean region appears to be causing the West's unusual warming. This is easily confirmed by consultating the satellite pictures archives: http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/oa/rsad/gibbs/2006/2006.html with occasional monumental flood events from super storms intermittently which will in no way offset the trend towards burning out the cores of continents. The coastal areas will take the brunt of the regime of mamouth rainfall events because that's where the triggers are that pull the plug to drain the rainclouds. riiiight... I hope those oozing syphallis sore of yours get better soon. It's really disgusting to look at your face with little volcanos erupting every few minutes. For decency sake, how about wearing a mask in public?
