Default similarities between infrared and visible images

Hello everyone.

Hope everyone is fine. Can anyone tell me the difference between
infrared images and visible images. And also the similartites between
both the spectras. What kind of algos are available for the
combining/fusion between both the spectras regarding image
enhancement.... thank you
