Yep. You're right!

The problem in France is that they never saw such hot weather and
were unprepared for it. Another fact is that the deaths here
were all of old people, the heat wave provoked early deaths.
The following year the number of deaths actually decline much
more than the number who died in 2003 but that was due
to a decline in the number of flu related deaths in old people.
Cold weather, by the way allows a longer survival of the flu
viruses in the open, which is why flu usual occurs in the cold
months. Warmer winters actually represses respiratory deaths.
So there are some benefits to warming in some areas.

Again... since there are usually premature deaths, "an average"
number of premature deaths in europe due to heat, cold, flood, ladders,
auto deaths, electrocutions..... what was the increase above the average
in 2003 or 2005 or 1995. Did these people die from a fall while
installing air conditioners in second floor windows?

If people are dieing of heat, then their comfort level in the quality of
life must be terribly low. Do the Europeans disrespect their elderly so
much that they leave them in worse conditions than the USA allows it's
prison population to live in?

It says more about Europe than it does about a warm summer.
