![]() "Rich" wrote Suppose that by the magic of usenet postings, the earth and venus were to suddenly switch places. Tell me what would happen on both earth and venus. Venus would rapidly cool, the clouds condense onto it's surface and you would be left with a dull planet with a shallow OC2 atmosphre. The earth would grow hotter, clouds would form in the upper atmosphere and over several thousand years the oceans would largely evaporate away leaving a planet with a very thick dense atmosphere. Over several hundred million years photodisassociation of the water in the atmosphere would remove the water from the atmospher and the earth would become as dry as venus. Venus currently has a surface temperature of molten lead. But it's surface receices only 10% of the light that the earth does. |
