Gusher of Lies By Robert Bryce
Everybody is talking about “energy independence.” But is it really achievable—or even desirable? In this controversial, meticulously researched book, Robert Bryce exposes the false promises and political posturing behind the rhetoric. Gusher of Lies explains why the idea of energy independence appeals to voters while also showing that renewable sources like wind and solar cannot meet America’s growing energy demand. Along the way, Bryce exposes the ethanol scam as one of the longest-running robberies ever perpetrated on American taxpayers. In a new foreword to this edition, he shows how energy independence rhetoric was used during the 2008 election, even as the heavily subsidized ethanol business fueled a growing global food crisis. More details Gusher of Lies: The Dangerous Delusions of "Energy Independence" By Robert Bryce Edition: reprint, illustrated Published by PublicAffairs, 2009 ISBN 158648690X, 9781586486907 416 pages |

Oil is irrelevant and the addiction has nothing to do with it. Even if all the cars ran on permanently sustainable, environment- impact-free energy, the problem would still remain. It's not an addiction to the energy running the cars. It's an addiction to the damned glorified Wheelchair called an Automobile -- by people who are too damned lazy, weak, frail or old to get out of their damned cars and WALK like God intended normal people to do. If you need to work, then telecommute. If your company isn't telecommuting then tell them to **** off and get with the times and stop becoming extinct with the rest of the ancient stuck-in-the-1950's Boomer Culture they're trying to perpetuate a century beyond its time. Gusher of Lies: The Dangerous Delusions of "Energy Independence" The dangerous delusion of the issue is the very precept: by "Energy Independence", what people really means is "Another Energy Fix To Replace The One Going Out And Allow Me To Continue Sustaining My Addiction To My Glorified Wheelchair". Hence, the so-called Liberal vs. Conservative debate on this issue is nothing but a disingenuous Kabuki Dance. It's nothing but Conserviliberals arguing for the same thing and drowning out dissent by hogging up the airwaves with a pseudo-debate whose only function is to cloak their alliance on this one issue: the addiction to the automobile. A REAL Conservative (by definition) doesn't use a car or need one. |
