Oriel36 aka Gerald Kelleher is a well known net kook on the Astronomy groups. He has a big problem with the Earth going around the sun. He makes even the most delusional right wing nutters look sane. Regards, Martin Brown The issue of 'climate change' is nothing compared to the actual problem - the ability to jump to reckless conclusions and then throw the kitchen sink by distortions and fabricating data , however,I can point out that this speculative luxury has a ground zero,a point where it all began and the point of departure is not the Earth's orbital motion around the Sun,it is the fact that none of you can tell how long it takes the Earth to turn once and the reasons behind it even when the values are in front of you - http://www.ncgia.ucsb.edu/education/...s/table02.html It is possible to construct the Earth's shape and rotational characteristics from that table and even tell why the transition from daylight to darkness is more rapid at the Equator and slower towards the poles and it is all based on the fact that the Earth turns once in 24 hours, from the tables that is represented as 69.17 miles every 4 minutes and 24901.5 miles every 24 hours. Astrologers believe in an alternative 23 hour 56 minute 04 second value but when asked to explain the simple twilight variations for any given latitude they cannot do it,something so simple from the table of values above that it becomes an issue of intelligence to argue against the 24 hour value which contains shape and rotational characteristics in terms of distance and speed.Ask an astrologer what causes twilight variation and a person will get the same astrological junk that people get when they question issues of carbon dioxide and global temperature - http://curious.astro.cornell.edu/que...php?number=121 You call me mad for believing the Earth turns once in 24 hours with the reasoning behind it but what does that make you and the rest here. |

It is possible to construct the Earth's shape and rotational characteristics from that table and even tell why the transition from daylight to darkness is more rapid at the Equator and slower towards the poles and it is all based on the fact that the Earth turns once in 24 hours, the Equatorial distance and speed is represented as 69.17 miles every 4 minutes/1 degree and turns 24901.5 miles every 24 hours. Astrologers believe in an alternative 23 hour 56 minute 04 second value but when asked to explain the simple twilight variations for any given latitude they cannot do it,something so simple from the table of values above that it becomes an issue of intelligence to argue against the 24 hour value which contains shape and rotational characteristics in terms of distance and speed.Ask an astrologer what causes twilight variation and a person will get the same astrological junk that people get when they question issues of carbon dioxide and global temperature - http://curious.astro.cornell.edu/que...php?number=121 You call me mad for believing the Earth turns once in 24 hours (even with the reasoning behind it) but then again, the leaders of the largest populations in the world announced last week that they are going to control global temperature on the advice of their scientists.I have mnake the proof for daily rotation in 24 hours so simple that only the most indifferent can ignore it and until that basic dynamic is understood, only then is it possible to move on to seasonal rtemperature variations and the orbital dynamic behind that. |
