Paying more for nothing?
Why does every green fad seem the same?
"Organic food has no nutritional or health benefits over
ordinary food,
according to a major study published Wednesday. Researchers from the
London
School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine said consumers were paying
higher
prices for organic food because of its perceived health benefits,
creating
a
global organic market worth an estimated $48 billion in 2007".
"A systematic review of 162 scientific papers published in the
scientific
literature over the last 50 years, however, found there was no
significant
difference."
In reporting this news, The Age, otherwise known as The Daily
Lentil,
interviews three locals - two organic food extremists who dismiss the
science, and one consumer advocate who wishes butchers would
advertise
organic meat more conscientiously.
A bit like their global warming, coverage, actually.

Clearly, your interest in industry-driven junk science is not limited
to the issue of climate change. How drearily predictable ...

You'd do better to follow facts Flan and the facts are that organic
food has
no benefits.

If you examine the study carefully, it doesn't make that claim, and
lacks the methodology to sustain such a claim, though it was widely
reported in these terms.

Organic food tastes better and is more enjoyable, isn't contaminated
with pesticides, chemicals, additives, etc., and according to some
reports, stays fresher longer. However, only those on high incomes can
afford to regularly eat organic.

Huh?
Evidence?

1. "Organic food tastes better and is more enjoyable"

Personal experience. and ask anyone who uses it.

How do they know if they don't eat normal food?

I find it amusing that you call industrial food "normal food". It's
about as *abnormal* as one can imagine.

But for the record, I also regularly buy industrial food, precisely
because sometimes one can't source organic.
