In the last 130 years of NASA's Northern Hemisphere record, July was
7th warmest. Would you trust anyone who said, "It was cosmic rays, not airplanes, which brought down the World Trade Center towers?" NO! You'd trust them as much as someone who said, "The warming was due to Anything But Carbon Dioxide!" This group is full of ABCD cheerleaders; don't trust them. The Mean July temperature over the last 130 years is 14.075 C. The Variance is 0.08904. The Standard Deviation, or SIGMA, is 0.2984. Rxy 0.694744 Rxy^2 0.48267 TEMP = 13.713542 + (0.005524 * (YEAR-1879)) Degrees of Freedom = 128 F = 119.424211 Confidence of nonzero correlation = approximately 0.9999999999999999999 (19 nines) The month of July in the year 2009, is linearly projected to be 14.432, yet it was 14.67. - 0.8 SIGMA above the trend, so the warming continues to accelerate. The sum of the absolute errors is 22.76667 Equal weight exponential least squares fit: TEMP = 13.717337 * e^(.0003935 * (YEAR-1879)) The sum of the absolute errors is 22.701585 Rank of the months of July Year Temp C Anomaly Z score 1998 14.94 0.865 2.90 2005 14.91 0.835 2.80 2002 14.85 0.775 2.60 2007 14.78 0.705 2.36 2006 14.77 0.695 2.33 2003 14.71 0.635 2.13 2009 14.67 0.595 1.99 -- 2001 14.62 0.545 1.83 2008 14.60 0.525 1.76 1991 14.59 0.515 1.72 1995 14.58 0.505 1.69 2004 14.57 0.495 1.66 1994 14.53 0.455 1.52 1988 14.49 0.415 1.39 MEAN 14.075 0.000 0.00 1900 13.77 -0.305 -1.02 1898 13.77 -0.305 -1.02 1965 13.75 -0.325 -1.09 1891 13.75 -0.325 -1.09 1976 13.72 -0.355 -1.19 1902 13.72 -0.355 -1.19 1956 13.69 -0.385 -1.29 1907 13.67 -0.405 -1.36 1903 13.66 -0.415 -1.39 1913 13.63 -0.445 -1.49 1884 13.60 -0.475 -1.59 1892 13.59 -0.485 -1.63 1904 13.50 -0.575 -1.93 1912 13.47 -0.605 -2.03 1882 13.41 -0.665 -2.23 The most recent 154 continuous months, or 12 years and 10 months, on this NH.Ts.txt data set are all above the 1951-1980 data set norm of 14 C. There are 1555 months of data on this data set: -- 800 of them are at or above the norm. -- 755 of them are below the norm. This run of 154 months above the norm is the result of a warming world. It is too large to occur by chance at any reasonable level of confidence. A major volcano eruption, thermonuclear war, or meteor impact could stop this warming trend for a couple of years, otherwise expect it to continue. |

No need for me to do that. |

What year would woger want July to be 7th? Why does woger mention terrorism in a GW newsgroup? The Mean July temperature over the last 130 years is 14.075 C. The Variance is 0.08904. Where are you getting all the decimal places, old thermometers didn't have any. The Standard Deviation, or SIGMA, is 0.2984. Rxy 0.694744 Rxy^2 0.48267 TEMP = 13.713542 + (0.005524 * (YEAR-1879)) Degrees of Freedom = 128 F = 119.424211 Confidence of nonzero correlation = approximately 0.9999999999999999999 (19 nines) Only 19 nines? I am disappointed. The month of July in the year 2009, is linearly projected to be 14.432, yet it was 14.67. - 0.8 SIGMA above the trend, The "trend"? Is it on rails, up, up, up? so the warming continues to accelerate. So July 2009 was 0.6 degrees above the mean? Why is woger so worried about a temperature of 0.6 degrees when the daily average in most places can vary by more than 10 degrees? Want to try for a Number One in September? Probably not, 1997 was a real outlier. |

If the next 30 years are still cooler than 1998, will he still say the warming trend continues. But with only one or two Atlantic hurricanes so far, we should expect at least 6 or 7 more. We can only hope it stays warm, if it gets colder we will have to burn more of that natural gas, and that will make more water, and raise sea level. |
