I read and UNDERSTOOD the entire post. It shows that GW would be
good for Canada by increasing the length of the growing season and
even allowing more land to be culivated. Canada will be able to
produce foods currently imported and it will be able to export even
more products than it currently does. The long range forecast for
Canada is incresded production and a better balance of trade.

Don't count on it..

First.. AGW won't change the tilt of earth's axis, nor will it change
our orbital position with respect to the sun. So you will always be
stuck with limited amounts of sunlight..

Second, climate models +cenozoic fossil records indicate that Western
north America will be subject to extended draught conditions (west
coast to 1200 miles east of the rockies) and this area will extended
far up into canada's bread basket.

Combined with higher evaporation rates, could spell an end to the idea
of higher yields.. It takes a lot of effort(energy) to cultivate
newly unfrozen land, clearing, irrigation, roads, bogs, swamps, etc.

Third, increased weather variability, stronger storms, the greater
the difference in temperature between the surface and the stratosphere
fuels ever stronger storms. More hail, wind, high frequency & more
intense tornados, etc. Just a couple of weeks of 95F+ high temps
with little moisture reduces crop yields to el-zippo.

Unpredictable (highly variable) weather is a farmers worst nightmare,
what to plant? when to harvest? What inputs($$) are needed, will
there be enough moisture available to see crops through to harvest
time?
