Fewer Americans worry about global warming and believe it's real

Americans are increasingly less worried about global warming and less
convinced its effects are already happening, according to an annual
Gallup survey released Thursday.

Nearly half, 48%, now believe its seriousness is exaggerated, up from
41% in 2009 and 31% in 1997, when Gallup first asked the question,
according to the Gallup Social Series Environment poll of 1.014 adults
taken March 4-7.

Most Americans on the mainland will ignore and discount the
warning about global warming until it hurts them financially
and/or affects them personally.

Initially - it will be Americans on the coast line and on islands
like Guam, Puerto Rico, Saipan, and Hawaii that will be effected
by the rising sea level - it will be those Americans who are
likely to believe in and want some federal support/response to
Global Warming. Loss of beaches/,land mass, severe erosion,
heavy storm damage, and damaged to the fishing industry will
be the likely problems for the islands, The big states that
will likely follow suit as the trend continues will be Texas,
Florida,
California, New York, Massachusetts, and Louisana - with the
added problem of severe droughts and larger than normal
wild fires. Insurance cost will increase until building codes
and infrastructure changes reduce the underwriting risks
along the coast line areas affected.

Winners will be oil/gas exploration companies which will find
new sources of oil as the ice recedes making pumping out the
oil that much cheaper. The fishing industry will have to
face a problem with lower yields caused by the ecological
changes due to the temperater change, e.g. increased
jellyfish population, changes in shark/predatory fish habits.
The trend towards bigger and stronger weather systems
will increase the average wind speeds and make
wind turbines (to generate electricity) viable in more areas.
