Blow-jobs drive unemployment March 10 2011 A study of renewable energy in Scotland now shows that for every job created in the alternative energy sector, almost four jobs are lost in the rest of the economy. This is a new study called "Worth The Candle?" by the consulting firm Verso Economics which confirms the experience of Spain and other countries: The creation of "green" jobs destroys other jobs through the diversion of resources and the denial of abundant sources of fossil fuel energy. The economic candle in the UK is being blown out by wind power. The Verso study finds that after the annual diversion of some 330 million from the rest of the UK economy, the result has been the destruction of 3.7 jobs for every "green" job created. The study concludes that the "policy to promote renewable energy in the UK has an opportunity cost of 10,000 direct jobs in 2009-10 and 1,200 jobs in Scotland". So British taxpayers, as is the case in the US, are being forced to subsidise a net loss of jobs in a struggling economy. http://tinyurl.com/4a3q34q I suppose it could be worse, though . they could be building electric vans. The real money should be spent on thorium reactors to power the future. And we should start methyl hydrate mining as soon as possible to make sure we have an ample supply of high energy hydrocarbons to power the chemistry of modern civilization. The alternative is clear enough. Oil is 'running out' by 1% every six months - enough to last another 50 years. The prices are going up 2% or 3% every six months to cover the shortage. So now they are killing a few sheiks and one family dictators in the middle east for fun so that people can buy bread. Very soon the politicians in the west won't have a handle on oil price rises and people are gonna want to kill them to buy bread because these politicians are the same ones who haven't spent the money on methyl hydrates and thorium reactors to placate the masses because of the politics of AGW. Where is all the funding coming from to fund AGW studies? From windfarms. Every time a one of those fans go around, it generates another dollar to fund crap science that furthers green causes in a subversive and malicious way that prevents thorium reactors and methyl hydrate mining in the same way as oil companies buy up politicians to prevent these initiatives getting off the ground to cheapen energy prices. One way or the other, the oil companies and greenies are going to bring the world to an end as it has already started to unravel in the middle east. This is the last warning to politicians to act to take all the profits from oil and windfarm companies and use it to fight their influence and use it to invest in thorium reactors and methyl hydrate mining. Investing in thorium reactors and energy security policy is not enough - that only produces energy. THAT IS NOT ENOUGH TO SAVE THE WORLD. We still need high energy hydrocarbons for driving chemical reactions for making everything from medicines to paint. If the oil is gone in 50 years, then we won't have any medicines and all the organic chemistry chemicals that are derived from high energy hydrocarbons. So WE MUST start mining methyl hydrates now so that we can have high energy hydrocarbons tomorrow to make all the chemicals of modern civilization. Falling victim to the AGW warmies and holding back from mining methyl hydrate will trigger a day of rage in the west when people can't buy bread because they can see all the money being pocketed by rich oil companies, the politicians who are seen to be in their pay, rich dictators and their one families who pocket all the money. |
