Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for 12z on Monday. Issued 0538z,
6/10/05. The models continue to show an unsettled start to the week with low pressure never far from the UK. A secondary low or trough still looks like bringing wet weather across the UK. ECMWF: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Recm1201.gif SSW'lies and SW'lies cover the UK with a trough to the west. A low deepens to the SW at T+144 with southerlies as a result. By T+168 a trough from that low covers the UK; southerlies cover eastern and SE parts of England and Scotland while the rest of the UK lies under WNW'lies. MetO: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rukm1201.gif MetO shows complex low pressure near Iceland and some secondary lows over the Irish and Celtic Seas. SSW'lies and southerlies cover the UK, followed by SW'lies at T+144. GFS: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rtavn1201.gif The UK lies under westerlies, with lows to the north and SW. The low to the SW deepens rapidly and moves over Northern Ireland at T+144, bringing a mixture of southerlies and westerlies elsewhere. By T+168 the low moves northwards, leaving the UK under WSW'lies. GEM: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rgem1201.gif GEM shows a deep low to the NW and a trough across the UK. Winds are moderate SW'lies, followed by further SW'lies at T+144 as the low fills in situ. GME/DWD: http://www.wetter.com/home/img/sat/g...060000_120.gif DWD also shows a trough over the UK, with SW'lies in advance and westerlies following behind. By T+144 a small high covers England and Wales, with westerlies elsewhere. The trough moves over the UK at T+144, leading to variable winds for Scotland and Northern Ireland, NE'lies for Wales and southerlies for much of England. NOGAPS: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rngp1201.gif NOGAPS brings a ridge over southern England with westerlies elsewhere. The ridge builds over the North Sea at T+144, resulting in southerlies and SW'lies for the UK.
