Default Today's model interpretation (7/10/05)

Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for 12z on Tuesday. Issued 0546z,
7/10/05.

The models are very mixed today with everything from high pressure to low
pressure, southerlies to northerlies on offer. About the only thing that can
be said is that things should become more settled by the end of the working
week.

ECMWF: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Recm1201.gif
Low pressure covers England and Wales, bringing light winds. Northerlies and
NE'lies cover Scotland and Northern Ireland, followed by northerlies for all
at T+144 as the low moves over the North Sea. T+168 sees light ENE'lies and
northerlies for the UK due to a ridge.

MetO: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rukm1201.gif
MetO shows low pressure atop Scotland, with a trough over England. To the
east winds are southerlies, with NW'lies following behind the trough. A weak
ridge covers the UK at T+144, leading to westerlies and NW'lies.

GFS: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rtavn1201.gif
A deep low lies to the SW, leading to southerlies for all. The southerlies
continue for most at T+144 as the low deepens and moves northwards. By day 7
the low lies to the NW with SW'lies and SSW'lies over the UK.

GEM: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rgem1201.gif
GEM shows variable winds over England and Wales due to a col, with NW'lies
from a low to the north over Scotland and Northern Ireland. By T+144 a high
builds to the west of Scotland, leading to northerlies and NE'lies across
the UK.

GME/DWD:

DWD also shows a col over England and Wales, with westerlies and SW'lies
elsewhere as the result of a low to the NW. A small high crosses Scotland
and Northern Ireland at T+144, leading to NE'lies across England and Wales.

JMA: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rjma1201.gif
A col covers most of the UK, bringing light winds. By T+144 a trough pushes
quickly northwards over the UK, resulting in southerlies for most areas -
the exception is northern Scotland, which lies under easterlies.

NOGAPS: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rngp1201.gif
NOGAPS southerlies across the UK with a low to the SW. The low moves over
Scotland and Northern Ireland at T+144 with southerleis elsewhere.

KMA: http://www.kma.go.kr/kma03/gif/g21nh_smsr_120.gif
The Korean model a weak ridge over the UK with light winds.
