Positively glorious day here - you'd never guess that it was October at
all! The temperature is currently (11:55am) 21.6C and still rising slowly - the sun is shining from a cloudless sky and there's a light breeze. -- Jonathan Stott Canterbury Weather: http://www.canterburyweather.co.uk/ Reverse my e-mail address to reply by e-mail |

Now 22.8C at 13:35 - some 4.1C warmer than the warmest day in October last year. I doubt we're anywhere near a record, but does anyone know what the highest October temperature has been in this part of the world (Kent)? -- Jonathan Stott Canterbury Weather: http://www.canterburyweather.co.uk/ Reverse my e-mail address to reply by e-mail |

They would be much more impressive as records towards the end of the month, somewhat less so if they happened to be around 1 October (four weeks is a long time at this point in the year!). Here in the North East of England, the temperature rose to the dizzy heights of 19C today and if it hadn't been for the stiff breeze, I'm sure it would have felt even warmer. Pleased we haven't switched to the winter duvet yet and I reckon we'll have saved no small sum on our heating bill at this rate. I don't know about you southern softies, but up here in the top right hand corner of England we're well pleased to reach 19C. Any more of this and they'll be taking the premature Christmas goodies off the supermarkets shelves and bringing back the BBQ essentials! It just seems like summer is reluctant to give way to autumn... mind you, it's a week since I last saw a swallow! Regards... David Allan. |

It's spent most of today hovering just under 15C up here, even with the F6 SSW'ly it hasn't been unpleasant, wind chill only down to 5C... It just seems like summer is reluctant to give way to autumn... It is unseasonably warm just at the moment but the trees definitely think it's autumn. Sycamores and Chesnuts have changed dramatically in the last few days from just showing signs to full golden colour and dropping like snow flakes. We normally have the first snow fall end of Oct early Nov... -- Cheers Dave. pam is missing e-mail |
