From the Big Freeze of 1963 to the devastating floods of 2003, from fog-bound football matches to washed-out Wimbledons, from Hancock's rainy day blues to Victor Meldrew's holiday horrors, this film reveals the high and lows of our national weather. |

I was hoping for more about how the presentation and accuracy (or not...) of weather forecasts on TV had changed over the last 50 years. But no lots or archive stuff with vague (some very vague) link to the weather. -- Cheers Dave. pam is missing e-mail |

But no lots or archive stuff with vague (some very vague) link to the weather. I gave up on it after 5 minutes. I can beat that. One minute was enough for me. I decided I'd be better off with the BBC1 film. The best documentary shown on BBC in the past few years was made forty years ago - The Great War - and the cretins couldn't show the repeat of that series without messing about with the scheduling so you were never sure when it would be on next. Five generally do better documentaries than BBC. Their programme on the 1953 storm was far superior to the BBC2 version. Graham |
