Default Caribbean monsoon like flow?

http://www.west-cheshire.ac.uk/weather/usir.asp

I've been looking at the IR images for the USA and Caribbean region the
last few days and have noticed an almost monsoon type of flow, with rain
bearing clouds running from the SW from central America etc. Surely this
goes against the usual trade NE flow?
