One of the coldest winters in a decade? Sounds as exciting as the
outlook for the next 7 days.... No winter has been particularly anything to write home about since 1987. Nick |

And from Northern England northwards the late Dec '95 cold spell was as sensational as anything 1963 or indeed any other winter of the past few hundred years has ever thrown at us. Or perhaps that doesn't really count as it wasn't anything like as severe in the south ![]() Col -- Bolton, Lancashire. 160m asl. |

1995/96?
Nothing special in the south. Three days of good snow in early February, and some cold snowless weather at times during December and January, but not that special. The last snow which persisted for a week was 1991, and the last spell of persistent deep snow was January 1987. Think about what this means. There are people who are 18 years old who have never experienced proper snow in their lifetime! Nick |
