Default Today's model interpretation (20/10/05)

Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for 12z on Monday. Issued 0544z,
20/10/05.

The models show low pressure dominating the UK for the first half of next
week with a trough moving slowly northwards. Rain is likely in all areas as
the trough moves through and temperatures should be a fair bit milder than
average.

ECMWF: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Recm1201.gif
SE'lies cover much of the UK due to a trough over the Midlands and Wales. To
the south, winds are SW'lies. The trough deepens over Scotland at T+144,
bringing SW'lies and westerlies elsewhere. There's little change at T+168 as
the trough persists over Scotland.

MetO: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rukm1201.gif
MetO shows a weak ridge bringing westerlies to England and Wales. Northern
Ireland lies under SW'lies, while a col covers Scotland. By T+144 a low
deepens to the west, leading to strong to gale force southerlies and SW'lies
over the UK.

GFS: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rtavn1201.gif
SW'lies and SSW'lies cover the UK due to a deep low to the WNW and a high to
the east. There's little change at T+144 or T+68, with low pressure
remaining to the west.

GEM: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rgem1201.gif
The Canadian run also shows a low to the WNW, this time bringing southerlies
to Scotland and SW'lies elsewhere.

Unavailable today.

JMA: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rjma1201.gif
The Japanese run shows a trough over northern England and southern Scotland.
To the south winds are westerlies, with ESE'lies further north. A secondary
low covers Northern Ireland at T+144, leading to SW'lies for most areas.
Scotland is the exception, with SE'lies.

NOGAPS: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rngp1201.gif
Low pressure covers the North Sea, leading to NE'lies for most areas. High
pressure then moves SE'wards over the UK at T+144, leading to SE'lies for
Northern Ireland with northerlies elsewhere.

KMA: http://www.kma.go.kr/kma03/gif/g21nh_smsr_120.gif
The Korean model shows a trough across the UK. Scotland lies under SE'lies,
Northern Ireland is affected by southerlies and elsewhere winds are SW'lies.
