Default Hurricane and Gulf stream

A guy on satellite channel said that the UK can expect a winter like has
never been seen before by a living person. His reason was that due to the
record low pressure from hurricane wilma and another building strength
right behind it he has calculated a diversion of the gulf steam in an
westerly direction and away from the UK.
There would be a global disruption which in turn would cause a knock on
effect and we will see a total weather shift from the east dragged across
europe from eastern europe from siberia and down from scandinavia. I thought
he must be mistaken but seemed like he knew what he was talking about. This
seems to tie in with recent met office warnings. He said that several times
this has occured in history and may also result in polar magnetic field
flip.

should I be cutting more logs and stockpiling food or is this another
example of US pseudo scientist scare tactics

I hope the word "HYPE" that you and many others use is correct. Cos it ain't
gonna stay mild for ever.
Yes I do beleive that the media have elaborated on this winter on a grand
scale, but lets say, it just could happen.
After many mild winters, one is going to stand out sooner or later, as did
the summer of 2003.
All it takes is the right set of circumstances to occur.
Lets look at what has changed over the last forty or so years.
Has the earth moved any nearer the sun? Answer "NO". Are the days any longer
than they were 40 years ago. Answer "NO" However I do beleive that sea
temperatures have risen, but for what reason I do not know.
I also beleive that looking at recent temperature trends over the last
twenty years it is easier to go along beleiving that mild winters are here
for the foreseeable future, but beware because there appears to be some
hidden evidence that we are now moving into a cooling phase. I say hidden
because its not as widely spoken about as global warming.
Lets just wait and see.
