Highest here (since 1983) on the Downs in east Surrey was 25.2°C on 1 October 1985. 29°C was recorded in London in early October 1959, which is the UK record, I believe. I recorded 23.3C on 10th October this year in Canterbury, so nowhere near a record. I think they mentioned that it would have to get to 23C for it to be a record for the 27th October. Jonathan |

Lovely day in the central lowlands also. Maximum at this site of +19.0ºC today. Glasgow and Edinburgh reporting 20ºC. Certainly the warmest day during the 2nd half of October in my 12 years of recording. Managed 18.8ºC here on November 7th a couple of years ago, which is equally or perhaps even more outstanding. Graham This is where monthly stats fall over, because 21 C is probably no big deal for the 1st to 7th of October, but 27th? 5 more days and we will be in November, and how many 21Cs have there been in that month, even on the 1st? |

Pleasant on the tops at 500 ft, not as windy as the national 5 live fx was implying, but uncomfortably warm in the sheltered green lanes!! |

Mind you, I do hope the rain isn't going to be as bad as thought for Sunday, as I'm supposed to be leading a party around Hornsea and the Mere during the morning... -- Rob Overfield Hull |
