Default Today's model interpretation (12/08/03)

Here is a summary of the latest NWP output, for noon (GMT) on Saturday.
Issued 0602z, 12/08/03.

ECMWF: http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Recm1201.html
Scotland and northern England lie under high pressure, with easterlies and
SE'lies elsewhere. The high drifts eastwards at T+144, allowing easterlies
and southerlies to cover the UK. Southerlies and easterlies continue to
affect the UK at T+168, as low pressure moves northwards to the west of the
UK.

MetO: http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rukm1201.html
A ridge lies to the east of Scotland, bringing easterlies and southerlies
over the UK. The ridge builds over Scotland and Northern Ireland at T+144,
with easterlies to the south.

GFS:

Southerlies and easterlies cover the UK, with high pressure over the North
Sea. The high merges with a ridge to the west at T+120, forming a ridge over
Northern Ireland, northern England and southern Scotland. To the south,
winds are easterlies, with westerlies to the north. 850hPa temperatures
range from +4C over NE England to +7C over southern England. The ridge
persists over the UK at T+144, with light winds for all. By T+168, the ridge
moves SE'wards, as a low moves closer to the west of Scotland. This leads to
SW'lies for Scotland and Ireland, with light and variable winds for much of
England. On day 8 a westerly and NW'ly flow covers the UK, as a ridge builds
to the west. The ridge topples over the UK on day 9, with NNW'lies for most.
By day 10, the ridge covers England and Wales, with WSW'lies further north.

GEM: http://meteocentre.com/models/glb00_120_e.html
High pressure covers Scotland, with northerlies and NE'lies over the UK.
Light northerlies cover the UK at T+144, followed by NNE'lies at T+168 as a
ridge builds to the west of Scotland. The ridge builds over Scotland on day
8, with northerlies for most, but by day 9 westerlies cover Scotland as the
ridge topples southwards. By day 10, the UK lies under a NW'ly flow, as the
ridge sinks southwards over Biscay.

JMA: http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rjma1201.html
Easterlies cover much of the UK, with high pressure over Scotland. 850hPa
temperatures range from +4C over northern Scotland to +10C over southern
England.

In summary, the runs show generally settled weather for the weekend, with
high pressure affecting the UK.
