Various output suggests a small, innocuous ridge will balloon into a whacking great high to the east or NE in a week's time. For what it's worth, 3 of the 12 0z GFS ensemble members bring an increasingly cool easterly drift over the UK and another one (the operational) brings a northerly blast. If they're to be trusted, judging by the lack of rain on the ensembles things will look quite different synoptically in 10 to 14 days! |

Echoes of November 1993, perhaps, when there was a week of cold weather
in the South East toward the end of the month. Think we had about 5 inches of snow in the Basildon area one Sunday morning. The following months however failed to produce a memorable winter from such a great start.... |
