First gale of the autumn in west Cornwall. Gusting to 45mph here, not quite
a gale, but it is on the sea front with gusts 50-60 mph, 50mph recently at Culdrose. Thoroughly unpleasant with driving rain. The deterioration was really rapid. Apparently it's 'very unpleasant on the roads' according to the MetO. It's pretty unpleasant in my back garden (due to the weather, not the general appearance). Graham |

It's howling a hooley here too. Heavy, horizontal rain with a 'river'
running down the street outside. 6.0 mm of rain in the last hour, it has got heavier recently so that total should shoot up. Don't know how windy it 'really' is because my anemometer is in a unsuitable place (old Devonshire cob cottages weren't designed with a weather station in mind). ________________ Nick G Exe Valley, Devon 50 m amsl "Graham Easterling" wrote in message ... Graham the roads are atrocious round here tonight. Debris and water everywhere. Apart from when we get snow I have never seen the roads so bad in wet conditions, it's like the land cannot take any more water and every drop of rain is running away. If this wet spell continues then it is going to get very serious in parts of Devon. The increased flow will clear the foul air and shift farmyard pollution in some caves on the Mendips. Low flow rates have made certain caves' disappointing' recently. Anyway, I gather pressure will build somewhat this weekend and steer any beefy depressions further north. Robin |
