Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for 12z on Thursday. Issued
0532z, 6/11/05. The models still show a zonal flow with unsettled weather for most areas during the latter half of next week. The GFS shows a settled interlude next weekend but as yet the other models aren't as keen. As ever, more runs are needed. ECMWF: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Recm1201.gif Westerlies cover the UK with a large high to the south. A low deepens to the west at T+144, bringing gale force SW'lies for all. The winds become NW'lies at T+168 as a ridge builds to the west. MetO: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rukm1201.gif MetO shows SW'lies for all ahead of a low to the west. The low becomes a trough over the North Sea and eastern England at T+144, leading to NW'lies over much of the UK. GFS: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rtavn1201.gif SW'lies cover the UK, again due to a low to the west. A trough crosses the UK at T+144 to bring westerlies and WSW'lies, followed by light anticyclonic winds at T+168. By then the UK lies under a large high. GEM: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rgem1201.gif Unavailable today. GME/DWD: http://www.wetter.com/home/img/sat/g...060000_120.gif A trough covers Northern Ireland while the rest of the UK lies under a ridge. A mixture of westerlies and SW'lies covers the UK, followed by westerlies for all on day 6. JMA: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rjma1201.gif The Japanese run shows strong SW'lies for most areas due to a ridge to the south and complex low pressure to the NW. The winds become SSW'lies at T+144 as a trough approaches Ireland. NOGAPS: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rngp1201.gif NOGAPS shows SW'lies for all at T+120 and T+144 as an area of high pressure moves NE'wards to the south of the UK. KMA: http://www.kma.go.kr/kma03/gif/g21nh_smsr_120.gif The Korean model shows WSW'lies for all, again due to lows to the north and a high to the south. MM5 snow forecast: http://rain.mmm.ucar.edu/mm5/plots/n...snoc.hr120.gif No snow is forecast to lie over the UK at T+120. |
