Default Line convection ?

The cold front went through here in good fashion. Heavy, verging on
torrential, rain accompanied by squally winds and a noticeable amount of low
level shear. I was thinking line convection -

http://www.west-cheshire.ac.uk/weather/visiblezoom.asp - looks rearward
sloping over Biscay with cold, convective tops indicating some sort of line
convection

East Midlands Airport in Leicestershire (sorry Nottingham East Midlands
Airport, not in Nottingham) recorded a wind veer, but nothing very fruity -

Up to press, it's been just windy and damp here, Joe.

Once again, it looks as if it's more-or-less evaporated on its way over
to us. It's been quite noticable today on the radar how the rain has
thinned out and then disappeared as it reached London.

Tom,

It's gone from -

EGNX 061120Z 19021KT 9999 -RA SCT018 BKN025 14/12 Q1008=
to
EGNX 061450Z 21007KT 9999 FEW018 12/09 Q1009=

Mean of 21KT to a mean of 7KT, feels like there is no wind at all in my back
garden, remarkable.

Joe
