This forecast represents the *PERSONAL OPINION* of the Chief forecaster at the
privately run Haytor meteorological office in Devon on how the weather may
unfold next week. The Chief forecaster will take no responsibility whatsoever
for any actions arising from its use. It is provided freely in the spirit of
freedom and the great love for meteorology that we personally enjoy and wish to
share freely with others.

Summary valid for Sunday 13/11/05 to Saturday 19/11/05
TOI (time of issue) Thursday 10/11/05 2100 UK local time

This summary is based on a quick appraisal of the GFS, JMA, ECMWF, UKMO, FAX,
and ENS (NCEP ensemble) labelled charts available from the superb
http://www.wetterzentrale.de/topkarten

High confidence that it will turn colder next week, but only moderate confidence
at best for any details.

Sunday looks like being mainly dry and rather cold after a few early showers in
northern and western areas. Plenty of sunshine but clouding over in NW Scotland
with perhaps some rain late in the day. Generally light winds but a fresh
easterly in the south for a while and a strengthening westerly over Scotland.
Frost returning over England and Wales in the evening.

On Monday Scotland and Northern Ireland look like being mainly cloudy and mild
with fresh to strong westerly winds bringing spells of rain, turning showery
later. England and Wales should be dry and bright with some sunshine after an
early frost in places. Temperatures around normal in light winds. A band of rain
spreading south on Monday night.

On Tuesday rain will clear away from the south during the morning then all areas
should have sunny spells and showers in moderate northwesterly winds. Mild at
first in the south but generally temperatures close to normal.

Wednesday and Thursday look like being rather quiet days with light to moderate
mainly north or northwesterly winds becoming variable on Thursday. Generally a
lot of cloud with outbreaks of rain but also some sunshine. Perhaps some light
snow in the Scottish mountains. Rather cold in the north and temperatures above
average in the south with pockets of frost and fog at night.

During Friday and Saturday pressure looks like it will build in the north
dragging colder air south in a moderate north to northeast flow. Some showers
pushing into eastern parts of England and Wales with quite a strong easterly
setting in in the south. Wintry showers over Scotland but generally temperatures
just below normal. Chance of a moderate frost over Scotland and Northern Ireland
on Friday and Saturday nights.

Outlook for the following week is for a lot of dry and rather cold weather in
the north with some sunshine and frost at night. More cloudy and milder in
southern Britain with perhaps some rain at times, especially in the SW. Small
10% chance of some very cold weather with snow pushing south later in the week,
otherwise little change from the generally settled picture by then.
