Dave, I've given up with TV weather forecasts almost completely, unless I
see them by accident. Almost because I still think the Regional ones are
still useful, like David Braine who is superb IMO. Don't watch them is my
advice and tell the BBC/ITV/SKY why you've stopped watching them. I tell
everyone I meet now to use the InterNet if they can for weather
information.

Radio forecasts are also pretty appalling. The other day, Susan Powell
warned of the weather "reaching a crescendo at the end of the week". Every
day, no matter who it is, they have to insert "its way" or "their way"
after every verb of movement.

I sound like a Monster online... maybe.
I *long* for peace, trust me. I get angry when people say we should try
reason with nasty people. No wonder terrorists live in Britain. They must
*love* the BBC. That's why I think Bush is 'ok' .
I do believe in man protecting himself with a Gun from the *evil scum* that
increasingly inhabit this Earth. Anyone hurt my children I'd want to blow
them away , period. Gun licensing in USA is very strong, but *they* can get
round it like in this country.
Nothing wrong with agressing the Agressor.. the only way in my book. These
scum don't reason.
Ok, no more politics.. this group doesn't need it. I'll talk weather only
from now on. Sorry.

Danny I agree with you on all counts.

Yes Graham, radio forecasts too (though you do get the occasional good
'un).

Will, my comments were of course meant to highlight the continuing
spread of 3Dgraphicitus among the National stations. As you may have
suspected, I am happy with the quality of the South Regional forecasts
(Alina Jenkins), usually complete with an Atlantic chart, isobars,
fronts and proper a wind representation. The trouible is, I often miss
that *one* early evening regional forecast and everything else on TV
is pretty poor.

I'm glad David is doing a good job down in the South West too, but
yes, I too am often forced onto the Internet to get the information I
need.

Cheers, Dave

Yes, I never thought I'd say it, but I now honestly would
like to have the forecast written out by a forecaster at Exeter and
sent to the BBC, where it would be read out by an announcer, as in the
50's. As it is, the presenter actually impedes the transmission of
information with a hailstorm of duff metaphors. Nina Ridge, with
gormless unknowing humour, said a couple of days ago that "the rain
will be sinking into SE England". IT'S OUR POROUS SOIL, LOVE!
The only forecaster worth listening to now is Peter Gibbs,
the agreeable snappy Brummie. Rod McElwee always seems to having a
private giggle to himself like some character out of Viz. Intensely
irritating. But sticking to the radio at least means one is spared
those infantile graphics. Grrr!
