Despite very little frost our day maxes for past 4 days have been low for the
time of year.

16th max 7.1 min 2.0
17th max 7.5 min -2.4
18th max 6.2 min 0.7
19th max 6.5 min 0.3

I dread to think what its going to be like here this time next week when the
cold air comes in!

Will.

What do you mean: "dread"? You know that you're looking forward to it.

I suspect that they will only be a couple of degrees down.
Looking at the charts I'm not very optimistic for the wintry stuff at this
location, I think away from the East Coast and with a moderate altitude the
potential is much better, as indicated by Graham's reference to1968.
Incidentally;
16th 5.6
17th 5.6
18th 6.7
19th 5.3.
The night frosts have been modest, even in this valley location, as we've
continued to have the "benefit" (?) of a N breeze.

Max of just 1.6C in Fleet (Hampshire) today, as fog lingered throughout.
Down to -2.1C already (18:59).

Northerlies have given some sledgeable snowfalls on Dartmoor in recent years,
and they have occurred in mild winters with not the depth of cold air expected
this weekend. The climatology of convection in northerlies shows that Dartmoor
and Exmoor pick up a lot of showers whereas just to the east of Exeter they get
very little. Yes we may get nowt but somehow I very much doubt it.
