Metcheck reckon over 20 inches of snow could fall in Argyll, with
drifting increasing this substantially.

Thanks, Steve!

My point was that Western Scotland, where I thought we lived, wasn't
mentioned. The map that Alex pointed me towards shows that Scotland is
a lot simpler in the MO mind than in mine, but we had that thread a
couple of months ago.

Hmm, I see they say "in places". As Argyll ranges from sealevel to over
3,000 feet, I guess they're fairly safe in their forecast :-)

Indeed
I just wonder what a forecast of 'snow in NW Scotland' actually *means*.
For areas of the country with such a vast range of heights I would have
thought mention of 'snow above x metres' would be far more helpful than
merely mentioning the area.

Vis image this morning, shows impressive looking back-edge to the
weather-front, and a LOT of showers packing in behind
On Vis imagery alone...looking a bit nasty

So you think the MO figure of 5-10cm is greatly underestimated, then?

No. Judging by this morning's forecast, there could be little or no
snow in Argyll. It's raining *very* hard at the moment.

Thunder, lightning and heavy rain here in Holywood, Northern Ireland, at
1300.
