Default 2004 was another warm year

Preliminary statistics for Coventry suggest an annual mean temperature
for 2004 of 10.8C (+0.9C 0n 1971-2000 average).

2004 ranks 3rd in records back to 1892 as below

WARMEST COLDEST

11.1C 1990 8.3C 1963
10.9C 2002 8.5C 1962
10.8C 1989,2004 8.6C 1919,1956
10.7C 1921,1995,1997 8.7C 1917,1922,1950
10.6C 1998,1999 8.8C 1895,1940,1965,1969

Global warming?

In the wider Global field, according to:

2004 will be Globally (preliminary with a few days left at time of report)
the 4th warmest after 2003 (3rd), 2002 (2nd) and 1998 (warmest of all to
date).

I noted it last year about this time and the trend has not changed so, with
a further year of measurement now added, is the rate of warming beginning
to slow?
