Hi there...I am looking to buy a weather station as a gift, and would
greatly appreciate some help and pointers. This will be the recipients first serious weather station, but they are fairly obsessive with meteorology and the weather...so I would like to get them something to get their teeth into. That in mind, I would really like to get them the Davis VantagePro 2 Wireless...the prohibitive factor being price. I have been trawling the group archives for a bit and have read various discussions on the viability of sourcing these from the US. I was wondering if anyone here has successfully managed to get a US dealer to source the UK model and relay this here via a friend residing in the states? Another tack I read, was that it may be possible to get the US spec unit converted for use in this country via a third party? If this is the case, could any one point me in the direction of someone who could perform this service? Failing the above coming to fruition, I would consider the OS WMR928. I have read quite a few mixed comments about this unit, and wondered if anyone could offer some more guidance. While I can see this is no Davis...is this still a worthy unit? Also, with regard to this unit...do US and UK specs differ? If you have any advice at all pertaining to the above, or anything else I should consider, your help would be very gratefully received. Very many thanks, Sam |
