100 cars & coaches are stuck in drifting snow near Jamaica Inn on Bodmin

Police have called in army help including helicopters.

Meanwhile in Penzance it's 3 degrees, with gusts 40mph & driving rain &

I think a small low's developed. The N wind was gusting to 50mph 15 minutes
ago, now it's virtually calm. The wind actually went SE then E at Newquay,
with the temperature 0 degrees at 15:00. Here heavy sleet & 2 degrees, so
I'm sure there must be snow at Stithians - MCC?

Yes, snowing here in Stithians and lying. Good 25mm on top of my car now.
Son is stuck on the A393 - taken him an hour to get from Redruth to
Ponsanooth - which can normally be done in about 10-15 minutes.

Snowing here now, settling, calm & 0.5 degrees. Must be in the centre of a
small low.

The only months when snow has only settled in Penzance in the last 15 years
a-
March '93
Feb '94
Dec '97
Jan '03
Feb '04
Feb '05

For snow to settle here in November is very rare.

Graham yep summats up. Pressure is falling like a stone here as well as the
temperature.
High cloud seems to be building too. Wind has dropped out and has now got a lot
of WSW in it.
-1.2 deg C and 992.7 hPa at 1635. Take care. This is a very volatile situation
weatherwise.

Cheers,

Will.

Just below 0 here now, complete snow cover outside, The heaviest snow since
I moved back in '91.
The fall in temperature was rapid as
http://www.met-office.gov.uk/weather.../stmawgan.html also shows.

I expect the temperature to rise again once the wind returns.

No doubt you can look forward to the "the soft southerners" posts to
follow - as we did a couple of years back when 6" of snow blocked the
outside lane of the M11 near Stansted for several hours!
