Autumn 2005 was one of the warmest on record in spite
of the markedly cold second half of November. More available: Charts: http://www.climate-uk.com/monpre/05Q1.htm The mean sea-level chart shows three sub-polar low pressure centres near Iceland (1003mbar), over the Norwegian Sea (1002mbar), and near Novaya Zemlya (1000 mbar). A weak Azores high was displaced slightly to the south of its normal location, while an exceptional high pressure centre (1024 mbar) was located between Kiev and Moscow. The mean SW-ly flow covering the British Isles often originated in unusually low latitudes over the Atlantic. The sea-level pressure anomaly field was dominated by the following centres: +7mbar near Moscow +4mbar over Greenland -6mbar over the Barents Sea, and -3mbar west of Ireland Over the British Isles pressure anomaly ranged from +1mbar along the English east coast and -1mbar along the west coast of Ireland.
