Default Today's model interpretation (10/12/05)

Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon on Wednesday. Issued
0548, 10/12/05.

The models show high pressure to the WSW for the middle of the week with
NW'lies the most likely outcome for the UK. Northern and western areas are
likely to see more in the way of cloud brought in from the Atlantic, whilst
some frost is possible for southern and eastern areas should skies clear and
winds fall light. For the weekend there are signs from the GFS and DWD that
the Azores High will retrogress, potentially allowing a colder blast further
down the line. However, that's a long way off and will most likely change
several times before then!

ECMWF: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Recm1201.gif
A high lies to the SW, bringing relatively mild NW'lies for all. There's
little change at T+144 or T+168, although by then westerlies start to affect
Northern Ireland and Scotland as the high sinks southwards.

MetO: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rukm1201.gif
The UK lies under NW'lies, again from a large high to the WSW. The NW'lies
continue at T+144 as the high declines slightly.

GFS: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rtavn1201.png
The GFS also shows NW'lies for the UK at T+120 and T+144 as high pressure
slowly declines to the WSW. The high retrogresses at T+168 with WNW'lies for
the UK as a result.

Unavailable today.

GME/DWD:

The German run is another model showing NW'lies for the UK with a high to
the WSW. Apart from the winds becoming westerlies over Scotland and Northern
Ireland at T+144, there's no great change. By T+168 a trough lies to the
west as the Atlantic high retrogresses, with westerlies across the UK.

JMA: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rjma1201.gif
NNW'lies cover the UK, again with a high to the WSW. The winds become
NW'lies over Northern Ireland and Scotland at T+144 as the high rotates and
sinks slowly SE'wards.

NOGAPS: http://217.160.75.104/pics/ngp10.prp.120.europeg.gif
As with the other runs, a high lies to the WSW, this time bringing NW'lies
across the UK at T+120 and T+144.

KMA: http://www.kma.go.kr/kma03/gif/g21nh_smsr_120.gif
Northerlies and NW'lies cover the UK with a high to the west.
